The 2010 KOMA Cattle Conference and Trade Show will be held on January 13 at the Washington County fairgrounds in Dewey, Oklahoma. A dynamic set of speakers and topics are lined up for the 2010 conference. The theme for this year’s conference is “Efficiency in a Challenging Economy.”
Registration will begin at 12:30 p.m. with the program kicking off at 1 p.m. Jayson Lusk, Professor Ag Economics, Oklahoma State University and Willard Sparks Endowed Chair, will be the first speaker covering the topic of animal welfare and the National public survey. Scott Dewald, Executive Vice President of the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association will cover some new and pending animal rights legislation. Dan Stein, Assistant Professor in the Animal Science Department at Oklahoma State University, Reproductive Physiology will provide current information on the new genetic testing and whether it is a useful tool for cattlemen. A pre-conditioning update as well as age and source verification will be presented by Doug McKinney, Value Enhancement Specialist at Oklahoma State University. Derrell Peel, Livestock Economist, Professor of Ag Economics at Oklahoma State University gets the difficult task of giving the market outlook. At the conclusion, there will be a questions and answer session.
On top of all of these programs, there will also be a Trade Show with numerous vendors with Ag products and services on hand for the day of activities. Equipment dealers, banks, feed companies, and animal health suppliers are among the early registrants for the Trade Show. The Cattle Conference and Trade Show will conclude with an evening meal at 6 p.m. The registration fee (which also includes the meal) is $15 if paid by January 8 and will be $20 if you wait to pay at the door.
