Parson, Kansas —
It happens every year, once the tents start going up at the Four State Farm Show near Pittsburg, Kansas, the temperature seems to go up as well.
This year, however, it wasn’t only hot at the Farm Show, it was extremely hot. And the excessive heat made its impact on show attendance.
“I’d say the heat probably impacted our attendance a bit this year,” Ted Gum, farm show coordinator said. “But, there were still a lot of people who came out to the show. They just didn’t stay all day.”
Those that did make it out to the show were able to not only see what is new and different in agricultural equipment and technology, they were able to visit, first-hand, with the dealers and factory representatives.
This year’s edition of the Four State Farm Show featured nearly 700 booths and according to Gum, a number of those exhibiting at the Show were pleased with the show.
“There were exhibitors who expressed they made sales as well as getting sales leads over the three days of the show,” Gum explained.
A number of exhibitors indicated their sales were stronger than at the 2009 Show, according to him.
Heat at the Show is no stranger to the employees of Farm Talk Newspaper, the sponsor of the Four State Farm Show and they were, once again, proud to host the Four State Farm Show 4-Wheeler or Utility Vehicle Give-Away at this year’s event.
This year’s drawing winner was James Gilmartin from Lamar, Missouri.
Gilmartin got his choice between three different ATVs or a John Deere Gator.
After looking over all the options he decided to choose the John Deere TS 4X2 Gator which was given away by Farm Talk Newspaper and area John Deere dealers.
Other dealers participating in the 2010 Four State Farm Show 4-Wheeler or Utility Vehicle Give-Away included, S&H Farm Supply in Lockwood, Mo., Smith's Cycle Center in Pittsburg, Kan. and Jay Hatfield Kawasaki in Frontenac, Kan.
In addition to the 4-Wheeler/Utility Vehicle Give Away, Farm Talk also features a special $25 Give-Away to kids that attend the Four State Farm Show.
The winner of this year’s kid’s drawing is Matt Volmer from Parsons, Kan.
As one show is in the books another one is already in preparation.
The 2011 Four State Farm Show is scheduled for July 15, 16 and 17.
The next show on the calendar for Farm Talk is the Ozark Fall Farmfest which is scheduled for October 1, 2 and 3 in Springfield, Mo.
